2019 Lexus LC 500 Test Drive Review: Concept Looks With An Old-School Heart
Video Channel: CarBuzz
The LC 500 is now entering its second model year as the flagship sports coupe from Lexus. Although it is a low-volume model, Lexus has poured its heart and soul into the LC 500 to produce something spectacular.
At its heart is a 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Like the engine out of the old BMW M3, this V8 delivers its power high in the rev range at over 7,000 rpm with a unique roar.
With 4,280 pounds to lug around, the LC 500 manages to hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, which is merely average for sports cars. The LC is a Grant Touring car more than it is a dedicated sports car, so its purpose is to be both fast and comfortable, not just fast.
The 2019 model year sees minimal changes to the car's tuning and the welcomed addition of Apple CarPlay but the LC 500 still sits as a relative bargain compared to pricier European sports coupe. Pricing starts at $92,900 for the gas-engined LC 500 (a hybrid LC 500h is also available) and our tester came in at $105,940.
